Climate Emergency Nightmares
Repositioning the climate crisis as a children’s emergency, these short films work together to illustrate millennial parents’ anxieties, before calling upon world leaders – businesspeople and policy-makers alike – to take action for the sake of the next generation.
The thought-provoking campaign marks a notable shift for UNICEF, imploring governments at the upcoming COP26 climate conference to sign a pledge to protect the rights of children and young people worldwide.
For the campaign, Soursop and HALAL assembled a tailor-made team, including creative strategist and climate change activist Mareka Stake, and our own film director Thessa Meijer. In the films, climate emergencies enter people’s homes in dystopian ways. With a burning forest taking over a children’s birthday cake and a water tap turned into a thirsty mouth, their apocalyptic nightmare scenes each powerfully underscore the urgency of governmental and business action.
