Lotte van Raalte
director
Lotte van Raalte (1989) is a Dutch director and photographer who graduated with a degree in Photography from the Royal Art Academy in The Hague (2012). Even at this early stage, whilst traveling the world, it was clear that she was fuelled by an attraction to culture and human stories.
Today, Van Raalte’s personal projects are guided by an interest in womanhood, sustainability, and gender equality. In early 2020 she published her first book BODY, a documentation of 46 women photographed and interviewed in their most vulnerable, honest and authentic form – nude. This body of work is a strong reflection of Lotte’s stance on female representation. As part of an empowering new wave of awareness, Van Raalte aspired the images to be seen in the context of current projects challenging previous representations and perceptions surrounding the female body as a celebration of diversity. The BODY book has been sold all over the world, and the photographs have been exhibited in Amsterdam, Stockholm, and New York.
Recently, Lotte van Raalte developed a fascination for and has been exploring her subjects through moving image. She deepened her interest in femininity and empowerment, which resulted in her debut film Guerreras (2022).
